Qlustar welcomes AlmaLinux 8 as a new edge platform replacing CentOS 8. The first Qlustar release is based on the current AlmaLinux 8.5 (aka RHEL 8.5 compatible) and was distributed with the latest security updates.
Updating from CentOS 8 to AlmaLinux 8 within Qlustar is simple: Images based on CentOS 8 are updated automatically when you apply the latest security updates. The only special step to be done is during the update of your CentOS 8 based chroots. Within the chroots execute
$ yum update
$ yum update
and confirm the AlmaLinux GPG keys when asked for it
Importing GPG key 0xC21AD6EA:
Userid : "AlmaLinux <packager@almalinux.org>"
Fingerprint: E53C F5EF 91CE B0AD 1812 ECB8 51D6 647E C21A D6EA
From : /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-AlmaLinux
That’s it. After rebooting your CentOS 8 nodes, you will be on AlmaLinux. Please note that within QluMan we will keep the name centos8 to refer to AlmaLinux 8 as well. This will only change in Qlustar 13.
